SPA CARE - Hot Tub chemicals and Hot Tub Accessories from Azure Pools and Hot Tubs

Caring for your Hot Tub couldn't be easier. Pure water is at the heart of it. When you use your tub you want to know the water is safe and pure. Does the water sparkle and does it look inviting? If it's dull and cloudy you're hardly likely to want to spend time in it are you?

Spa Care

How do you make sure it's clean and safe? Simple - test the water regularly with your test kit and add the chemicals as indicated. Sounds easy? Well it really is that easy. So, how's it done?

WATER PURITY

There are two things you're checking the water for. To maintain its purity, the water needs the addition of a sanitiser to kill inwanted microbes and bacteria left in the water by bathers. The more people using the sp, and the more frequent its use, the more chemicals you will need to use to kill the bacteria that gets left in the water. Without treatment, the hot water acts as an ideal medium for this bacteria to multiply.

To ensure your peace of mind and to make caring for your hot tub water easier, your Master Spa combines the benefit of Night & Day™ Balanced Filtration - Ozone - Thermostatic Heating. Which thoroughly mixes ozone gas produced in the ozone generator to ensure maximum efficiency in killing unwanted microbes. Natural Sequence™ 3 - Stage Continuous Filtration filters the water 100% of the water 24 hours a day, to give you purer, clearer water with less chemical usage and minimum effort!

It is good practice to add some fresh water to your hot tub each month, some will be required anyway to make up for evaporation, but 4 or 5 bucketfuls could be thrown away and the spa topped up to its normal level. This will help maintain the quality of the water. Once every three months or so drain the tub and refil.

The addition of bromine or chlorine acts as a sanitiser and kills these 'bugs'. Bromine is a better value choice for spas as chlorine is dissipated and 'burned off' quicker at the higher temperatures that spa water is generally run at. To test the levels of residual bromine/chlorine in the water, you should use dip strips which tell, by changing colour, whether you have too much or too little chemicals in the water.

Many hot tubs come with an ozone generator system and with this you will need to use chemicals only as a residual sanitiser since these tubs make ozone - the most efficient 'bug killer' you can use. It takes only a couple of minutes to test and dose your tub, so develop the habit of doing it when you get out of the spa or at least weekly if you are not using the tub daily. Should the water have gone green or cloudy you can give it a 'shock dose' to sort things out. The ideal level of sanitiser is 1-3ppm (parts per million) and this will be indicated in your test strips.

pH

The second thing your test strips check for is the pH of the water. If the pH is too high or too low it can cause irritation or itchy, flaky skin. The ideal pH is 7.2 to 7.8 and if your test indicates the level is below this add pH+ chemical (soda ash) and if it indicates levels above this then add pH- (usually dry acid).

There are many other products you can purchase as extras to stop water foaming, make water sparkle, to add algaecides to the water, etc and we can advise you of these other options, should you want to experiment with them.

FILTERS

Your spa should be set on a timed sequence to filter the water. This removes all of the dead bacteria and soluble solids and fats from the water. This needs cleaning regularly but your Master Spa is also equipped with Eco-Pur filters, for fresher cleaner water with lower chemical use.
